    En los márgenes de los márgenes: Procesos de individuación y experiencias migratorias de jóvenes en barrios populares del Área Metropolitana de Buenos Aires

    En este trabajo presentamos resultados de dos proyectos de investigación financiados, culminados recientemente, y un estudio doctoral en proceso, en el marco de los cuales analizamos los procesos de individuación en jóvenes en diversos barrios vulnerabilizados del Área Metropolitana de Buenos Aires. Para la construcción de datos empíricos realizamos entrevistas en profundidad y relatos biográficos, para cuyo análisis seguimos los lineamientos generales de la teoría fundamentada, utilizando como auxiliar el software Atlas.ti. Aquí nos centramos en el estudio de las experiencias migratorias de cinco jóvenes, de entre 16 y 23 años, provenientes de Paraguay. En primer lugar, presentamos algunas herramientas conceptuales utilizadas para el despliegue del problema. Luego abordamos las tensiones presentes en dichas experiencias entre los proyectos individuales, los vínculos afectivos y las condiciones estructurales de los países de origen y destino. En tercer lugar, analizamos las vivencias y las tácticas de los jóvenes frente a situaciones de discriminación y estigmatización. Finalmente, articulamos las categorías y proposiciones presentadas reflexionando sobre los posibles aportes de la sociología de la individuación y el enfoque biográfico para la visibilización y abordaje –desde la investigación social y las políticas públicas– de los procesos de vulnerabilidad de jóvenes migrantes en barrios populares.In this paper we present results of two research funded projects recently culminated and a doctoral study in process, in which we analyze the individuation processes in young people in different vulnerabilized neighborhoods of the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires. The empirical data was constructed using deep interviews and life story as methodological tools, following for this analysis the general guidelines of grounded theory and using Atlas.ti software assistant. Here we focus on the study of migratory experiences of five young people from Paraguay, aged between 16 and 23 years old. First, we present some theoretical tools used to display the problem. Then, we address the existing tensions in their experiences among individual projects, emotional relationships and the structural conditions of the countries of origin and destination. In third place, we develop our analysis of the experiences and the tactics of young migrants in situations of discrimination and stigmatization. Finally, we relate the categories and propositions presented, reflecting on the possible contributions of sociology of individuation and biographical approach to the visualization and to address –from social research and public policies– the vulnerability processes of young people migrants in popular neighborhoods.Fil: Di Leo, Pablo Francisco.     Mobilities, Individuation, and Agencies: An Analysis Based on Young Migrants’ Biographical Narratives in Buenos Aires, Argentina

    Social studies point out the unequal conditions for moving or staying, internally or internationally, that young people from different social sectors face in their biographies. In this article, we analyze the migratory experiences of young people from popular sectors of the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires, Argentina. To do that, we put into dialogue recent studies on migration and proposals of the sociology of individuation and the new mobility paradigm. We approach the individuation processes of these young people through the qualitative analysis of their biographical narratives in which their migration experiences emerged as turning points in their lives. The article argues that young migrants from popular sectors draft their agencies and shape themselves as individuals by mobilizing material and symbolic supports and accessing different social shock-absorbers that allow them to cope with three major social challenges in their migratory processes: the socio-labor trial; the family trial, and the identity trial. By identifying the discontinuities and the common evidence present in the migratory experiences of these young people and their families, the paper ends highlighting the articulations among coercions, elasticities, and strategies that these youth migrant mobilize, individually and collectively, around themselves and others, through border-links to create shelters and deal with such challenges

    Evidence for tidal interaction and merger as the origin of galaxy morphology evolution in compact groups

    We present the results of a morphological study based on NIR images of 25 galaxies, with different levels of nuclear activity, in 8 Compact Groups of Galaxies (CGs). We perform independently two different analysis: a isophotal study and a study of morphological asymmetries. The results yielded by the two analysis are highly consistent. For the first time, it is possible to show that deviations from pure ellipses are produced by inhomogeneous stellar mass distributions related to galaxy interactions and mergers. We find evidence of mass asymmetries in 74% of the galaxies in our sample. In 59% of these cases, the asymmetries come in pairs, and are consistent with tidal effects produced by the proximity of companion galaxies. The symmetric galaxies are generally small in size or mass, inactive, and have an early-type morphology. In 20% of the galaxies we find evidence for cannibalism. In 36% of the early-type galaxies the color gradient is positive (blue nucleus) or flat. Summing up these results, as much as 52% of the galaxies in our sample could show evidence of an on going or past mergers. Our observations suggest that galaxies in CGs merge more frequently under ``dry'' conditions. The high frequency of interacting and merging galaxies observed in our study is consistent with the bias of our sample towards CGs of type B, which represents the most active phase in the evolution of the groups. In these groups we also find a strong correlation between asymmetries and nuclear activity in early-type galaxies.     Abstract Effects on the intestinal microbiota of Sparus aurata after administration of diets supplemented with different doses of Debaryomyces hansenii or INMUNOTEC have been evaluated. The results revealed significant changes at metagenomical level and it could be related to metabolic changes, especially in the case of the diet supplemented with the highest dose of IMMUNOTEC.     Microbiota composition and intestinal integrity remain unaltered after the inclusion of hydrolysed Nannochloropsis gaditana in Sparus aurata diet

    The use of lysed microalgae in the diet of carnivorous fish can increase the bioavailability of proteins and bioactive compounds, such as unsaturated fatty acids or vitamins in the digestive tract. These are essential molecules for the proper physiological development of fish in aquaculture. However, some antinutritional components and other undesirable molecules can be released from an excess of microalgae supplied, compromising the integrity of the intestine. The inclusion of small amounts of hydrolized microalgae in the fish diet can be a good strategy to avoid negative effects, improving the availability of beneficial compounds. Nannochloropsis gaditana is an interesting microalgae as it contains nutraceuticals. Previous studies reported beneficial effects after its inclusion in the diet of Sparus aurata, a widely cultured species in Europe and in all Mediterranean countries. However, administration of raw microalgae can produce intestinal inflammation, increased intestinal permeability, bacterial translocation and disturbance of digestion and absorption processes. The aim of this study was to evaluate changes in the intestinal microbiota and barrier stability of S. aurata fed with low inclusion (5%) hydrolysed N. gaditana. Intestinal microbiota was analyzed using Illumina MiSeq technology and libraries were constructed using variable regions V3-V4 of 16S rDNA molecules. Analysis were based in the identification, quantification and comparison of sequences. The predictive intestinal microbial functionality was analyzed with PICRUSt software. The results determined that the intestinal microbiota bacterial composition and the predictive intestinal microbiota functionality did not change statistically after the inclusion of N. gaditana on the diet. The study of gene expression showed that genes involved in intestinal permeability and integrity were not altered in fish treated with the experimental diet. The potential functionality and bacterial taxonomic composition of the intestinal microbiota, and the expression of integrity and permeability genes in the intestine of the carnivorous fish S. aurata were not affected by the inclusion of hydrolysed 5% N. gaditana microalgae

    Increased rate of abdominal surgery both before and after diagnosis of celiac disease

    BACKGROUND: The detection of celiac disease (CD) is suboptimal. AIMS: We hypothesized that misdiagnosis is leading to diagnostic delays, and examine this assertion by determining if patients have increased risk of abdominal surgery before CD diagnosis. METHODS: Through biopsy reports from Sweden's 28 pathology departments we identified all individuals with CD (Marsh stage 3; n=29,096). Using hospital-based data on inpatient and outpatient surgery recorded in the Swedish Patient Register, we compared abdominal surgery (appendectomy, laparotomy, biliary tract surgery, and uterine surgery) with that in 144,522 controls matched for age, sex, county and calendar year. Conditional logistic regression estimated odds ratios (ORs). RESULTS: 4064 (14.0%) individuals with CD and 15,760 (10.9%) controls had a record of earlier abdominal surgery (OR=1.36, 95% CI=1.31-1.42). Risk estimates were highest in the first year after surgery (OR=2.00; 95% CI=1.79-2.22). Appendectomy, laparotomy, biliary tract surgery, and uterine surgery were all associated with having a later CD diagnosis. Of note, abdominal surgery was also more common after CD diagnosis (hazard ratio=1.34; 95% CI=1.29-1.39). CONCLUSIONS: There is an increased risk of abdominal surgery both before and after CD diagnosis. Surgical complications associated with CD may best explain these outcomes. Medical nihilism and lack of CD awareness may be contributing to outcomes

    Proposing to use artificial neural Networks for NoSQL attack detection

    [EN] Relationships databases have enjoyed a certain boom in software worlds until now. These days, with the rise of modern applications, unstructured data production, traditional databases do not completely meet the needs of all systems. Regarding these issues, NOSQL databases have been developed and are a good alternative. But security aspects stay behind. Injection attacks are the most serious class of web attacks that are not taken seriously in NoSQL. This paper presents a Neural Network model approach for NoSQL injection. This method attempts to use the best and most effective features to identify an injection. The features used are divided into two categories, the first one based on the content of the request, and the second one independent of the request meta parameters. In order to detect attack payloads features, we work on character level analysis to obtain malicious rate of user inputs. The results demonstrate that our model has detected more attack payloads compare with models that work black list approach in keyword level

    Synthetic Lethality of Chk1 Inhibition Combined with p53 and/or p21 Loss During a DNA Damage Response in Normal and Tumor Cells

    Cell cycle checkpoints ensure genome integrity and are frequently compromised in human cancers. A therapeutic strategy being explored takes advantage of checkpoint defects in p53-deficient tumors in order to sensitize them to DNA-damaging agents by eliminating Chk1-mediated checkpoint responses. Using mouse models, we demonstrated that p21 is a key determinant of how cells respond to the combination of DNA damage and Chk1 inhibition (combination therapy) in normal cells as well as in tumors. Loss of p21 sensitized normal cells to the combination therapy much more than did p53 loss and the enhanced lethality was partially blocked by CDK inhibition. In addition, basal pools of p21 (p53 independent) provided p53 null cells with protection from the combination therapy. Our results uncover a novel p53-independent function for p21 in protecting cells from the lethal effects of DNA damage followed by Chk1 inhibition. As p21 levels are low in a significant fraction of colorectal tumors, they are predicted to be particularly sensitive to the combination therapy. Results reported in this study support this prediction

    Abnormal thymic stromal lymphopoietin expression in the duodenal mucosa of patients with coeliac disease

    OBJECTIVE: The short isoform of thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP), a cytokine constitutively expressed by epithelial cells, is crucial in preserving immune tolerance in the gut. TSLP deficiency has been implicated in sustaining intestinal damage in Crohn's disease. We explored mucosal TSLP expression and function in refractory and uncomplicated coeliac disease (CD), a T-cell-mediated enteropathy induced by gluten in genetically susceptible individuals. DESIGN: TSLP isoforms-long and short-and receptors-TSLPR and interleukin (IL)-7Rα-were assessed by immunofluorescence, immunoblotting and qRT-PCR in the duodenum of untreated, treated, potential and refractory patients with CD. The ability of the serine protease furin or CD biopsy supernatants to cleave TSLP was evaluated by immunoblotting. The production of interferon (IFN)-γ and IL-8 by untreated CD biopsies cultured ex vivo with TSLP isoforms was also assessed. RESULTS: Mucosal TSLP, but not TSLPR and IL-7Rα, was reduced in untreated CD and refractory CD in comparison to treated CD, potential CD and controls. Transcripts of both TSLP isoforms were decreased in active CD mucosa. Furin, which was overexpressed in active CD biopsies, was able to cleave TSLP in vitro. Accordingly, refractory and untreated CD supernatants showed higher TSLP-degrading capacity in comparison to treated CD and control supernatants. In our ex vivo model, both TSLP isoforms significantly downregulated IFN-γ and IL-8 production by untreated CD biopsies. CONCLUSIONS: Reduced mucosal TSLP expression may contribute to intestinal damage in refractory and untreated CD. Further studies are needed to verify whether restoring TSLP might be therapeutically useful especially in refractory patients with CD
